Set in a fictional kingdom where magic and early 20th-century technology coexist, the story follows Sophie, a shy 18-year-old milliner. Her life is turned upside down when a spiteful witch curses her with the body of a 90-year-old woman. Seeking a cure, Sophie ventures into the "Wastes" and finds refuge in a giant, walking steampunk castle powered by a fire demon named Calcifer and owned by the vain, enigmatic wizard Howl.

The film was one of the few Studio Ghibli movies to receive an official Greek dub, which was included in the Greek DVD release and is occasionally available through local streaming platforms or specialized collectors.
