The story follows Josie Potenza (), a woman trapped in a loveless marriage to an alcoholic, wealthy TV producer, Tony Potenza ( Christopher McDonald ). During a vacation intended to mend their relationship, Josie meets a mysterious and dangerous stranger, Cole Wilson ( Peter Greene ), in a bar. In a moment of frustration, she jokingly remarks that she wishes her husband were dead. When Tony is subsequently murdered, Cole returns to claim credit and blackmail her, while the police and Tony’s ex-wife begin to suspect Josie of the crime.
