This story is widely regarded as the ultimate "underdog" tale, symbolizing the triumph of faith and intelligence over raw physical power.
For 40 days, Goliath stepped into the valley morning and evening to mock the Israelites. He proposed a "winner-take-all" duel: if an Israelite could defeat him, the Philistines would become their servants; if he won, the Israelites would serve the Philistines. King Saul and his entire army were terrified and refused to fight. 3. David’s Arrival
As David approached, Goliath mocked him, asking, "Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?". David responded with a declaration of faith: "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty". 6. The Fatal Blow
As the giant moved in to attack, David ran toward him. He placed a stone in his sling and swung it, hitting Goliath squarely in the forehead. The stone sank into the giant's skull, and he fell facedown to the ground.
Seeing their champion dead, the Philistine army fled in terror, and the Israelites pursued them to victory.
