As the defense prepares to rest in the high-profile murder trial of Brayden Miller, Jax Stewart is forced to confront deep-seated personal trauma when her stepfather, Paul, is hospitalized.

Jax visits the hospital and confronts a dying Paul about his past actions. He dismisses her memory as "her truth" rather than his, but Jax makes it clear she will kill him if he ever approaches her children.

Flashbacks to 1996 reveal that Jax was inappropriately touched by her stepfather, Paul, when she was a teenager. Her mother, Lu, downplayed the incident at the time, leading to their strained relationship.

Jax realizes her affair with Damon has become too intense after he beats up Will in a jealous rage.
