After the body of economics professor Elliott Thomas is found in a pig pen, the team goes "back to school" to find the killer among his many disgruntled students. Danny Williams goes undercover as the replacement professor, while his nephew Eric Russo poses as a hard-partying student to gather intel.
In a more dramatic subplot, Nahele Huikala’s father, an ex-con, returns and seeks custody of him. Nahele eventually reveals a dark secret: he witnessed his father commit a murder before going to prison. Steve McGarrett later recovers the body of the victim, leading to the father's arrest.
