Released on June 29, 2012, marked the live-action directorial debut of Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. Blending raunchy "bromance" with a high-concept fantasy premise, the film became a cultural phenomenon, grossing $549.4 million and eventually setting a record as the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time. Plot & Premise

To ground the surreal story, the film was shot on location in Massachusetts, featuring iconic spots like Fenway Park , the New England Aquarium, and Boston Public Gardens. Reception and Legacy Ted(2012) - The Fan Carpet

The project was originally developed at 20th Century Fox, but they passed on it due to concerns over the $65 million budget for an R-rated debut. Universal Pictures ultimately greenlit the film.

Ted was created through post-production CGI by Tippett Studio and Iloura, with MacFarlane providing both the voice and motion capture on set. During filming, a simple "stick with eyeballs" or physical stuffed bears were used as stand-ins for the actors.

MacFarlane recruited several of his Family Guy collaborators, including writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, and actors Mila Kunis, Alex Borstein, and Patrick Warburton.
