It was a high-angle shot of a pier in New Jersey. In the center of the frame was a man Elias recognized—a local councilman—sitting in the back of a black SUV, handing a briefcase to someone whose face was obscured by a digital glitch. Suddenly, a chat box opened on the side of the player.
Elias sat back, hands behind his head, as the "Upload Complete" notification flashed on his screen. Justice, it turned out, had a very specific file extension.
Elias looked at the "Upload" progress bar. He was currently sharing the file with 42 other peers. 42 people across the globe were unknowingly downloading a confession that could topple a political dynasty.
